Failures & catastrophies
Trauma 2020
no-one escapes.
Nervous System 2019
Parklands and ribbons of green corridors are system that enliven the surroundings.
This work proposes the built and natural environment as a nervous system.
A system nervously balanced between competing forces.
Cower Tower 2019Ambition meets forces of opposition; Resistance through malleability or defiance. Inevitable entropic forces prevail.
Happy Landing 2019(Apologies to Adrian Feint) A box lands and springs open. Box or biology? Is this a reproductive event?
Thin Tower & Silo 2019Thin in thickness and in construction methods Paper, cardboard, wood This object proposes a paradoxical beauty. The surface is breached and torn, eaten into, revealing layers of past effort below and future failure.

Moth 2021Paper, cardboard, string, Canvas This object has failed to keep the moths at bay.Moths begin as caterpillars making holes in the outside world, then make holes in the inside world.
Green House 2019
By embracing the entropy of nature we can create a healthy attitude to an urban condition.
Unfurl 2020
All structures collapse. It’s just a matter of time. Once built to repel they now attract. In failure is folly revealed.
Veneer 2018 Reclaimed cardboard & paper, acrylic paint 500mm x 230mm x 90mmA veneer of control soon succumbs. A small modest cardboard box is wrapped in 3 layers of paper. These covering sheets are imperfect in pattern and surface as they are hand-painted, hand-stencilled and collaged with hand-cut shapes; therefore, each shape in the pattern is unique. Then… unspecified forces disrupt the paper shells and break open the protective surfaces. The work stands upright, almost appearing to hover, on a small discreet base not shown in the image.
